Jeremy Sawyer is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Kingsborough Community College. He has a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the CUNY Graduate
Center and is a NY State Certified Bilingual (Spanish) School Psychologist who worked in NYC Public Schools.

Current student-led projects include testing the impact of disability rights activism on attitudes toward disabled people, exploring how people develop a critical activist orientation and its psychological effects, and examining how engaging with political social media content affects users’ moods and intentions for future activism. Dr. Sawyer’s theoretical interests include Vygotsky, cultural-historical activity theory, and applications of Marxism to social and political psychology. He and his students apply a variety of methods, including experiments, analysis of secondary data, and experience sampling approaches.
